Ever since I saw Rouge Bunny Rouge Abyssinian Catbird, it has earned itself a solid place on my wish list. However, the eyeshadows in pot are rather pricey, so when the refills came out I was really happy to finally get this shade at a greatly reduced price!
The Keeper Refills come with black paper packaging, and I personally adore the whimsical drawing. It’s romantic and girly, but not childish.
As the duo- and trio- eyeshadow keepers come with magnets in them, the pans don’t. One question I had before I purchased this eyeshadow was: would it fit in my MAC palette? It turned out that some magnetic tape on the bottom later, it has found its new home there! Therefore, fear not if you’re thinking about housing it in your MAC palette.
Abyssinian Catbird can best be described as a medium-to-dark warm copper with a golden sheen and green flash. Not only is the shade itself immensely intricate, the quality is also top-notch. In short: I can’t believe it’s not butter! It is incredibly smooth, but not crumbly at all and produces no fallout. It goes on like a dream and blend like nobody’s business. Forget about blending. You barely need to do it even when you want to wear this shade all over your lids. The edges practically blend themselves out!
I compared it with the other coppery shades that I have, but I can say confidently nothing even comes close in my stash. Here you can see it swatched next to the darker shade of NARS Paramaribo duo and Urban Decay Smog:
I would say it is a shadow that’s easy to be paired up as well. In my FOTD I’m wearing it with Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill #14. It makes a pretty metallic eye that is not overdone (in my humble opinion anyways)! I have tried to wear it on the inner half of my lids as well, and it works just as well there.
Remember how MAC predicted metallic jewel tones are going to be big in A/W 12/13? Why not upgrade your metallic jewel eyeshadow stash with Rouge Bunny Rouge Abyssinian Catbird?

Hey Joyce, I think most copper shadows might be a bit too warm, but this one actually works on a lot of cooler-toned people as far as I can see. I can’t personally recommend any other of their eyeshadows because I haven’t tried, but they do make some other interesting shades!

Haha but it’s true! I have honestly had no problem whatsoever in terms of blending with this eyeshadow. It’s THAT smooth 🙂

Haha I resisted for quite a while as well, but when these came out at a much lower price compared to their single eyeshadows, I cracked :p
Oh my god Sunny your title absolutely cracked me up. When I first purchased this shade I was astonished and thrilled at the smooth texture. I haven’t necessarily found that with all RBR shadows, but this one is just heavenly!

Love it! Its similar to Smog but with a more olive tone which makes it so beautiful! I don’t know if I can get my hands on this so I will look for a dupe in Inglot!

Haha don’t eat it! I don’t own Khaki Pulse so I can’t say for sure, but I think the green flash in this one might differentiate the two of them 🙂
