Mostly Sunny September/Early Autumn Favorites!

If you’ve been here for a while (in that case, I have nothing else to say but THANK YOU), you might remember that I was really not a lipstick girl. I thought I loved my eyeshadows too much to ever want to play my lips up and eyes down, but early autumn worked its magic and BANG, my recent favorites revolve around bold(er) lipsticks!

1: Bold Lipsticks

Guerlain Envie Rouge G L’Extrait, Tom Ford Diabolique Lip Color, Guerlain Gisela Rouge G

I’m cheating a bit with the Tom Ford one here, since it’s not part of the autumn release. I promise I will blog about it around its launch date (the post has actually been written and I’m just waiting for more information to be available before I hit “publish”)! In case you want a sneak peek of its amazing-ness, head over to my Twitter and check out my profile picture (follow me for random fun updates)!

2. Soft Shadow Action

Hourglass Dune Visionaire Duo, Bobbi Brown Rich Caviar palette, Bobbi Brown Sable

When I have a bold lipstick in mind, I want to make my eyes look their best without being “in-your-face.” Here is what I use very often:

I love the lighter shade of Hourglass Visionaire Dune Duo. It’s the perfect for bringing light into the inner half of my lids without an obvious metallic shine. For my inner corners, Bobbi Brown Candlelight (middle of the first row in the Rich Caviar palette that is part of the holiday collection. It will also be blogged about in detail very very soon, so keep your eyes peeled!) does the trick easily. For soft depth and an illusion of “crease,” I use a mixture of Bobbi Brown Wheat (third on the first row) and Sable (still my go-to brow filler as well).

3. Let’s Get… Eyeliner-Happy

Bobbi Brown Black Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush

Any eye look would lost on me without a decent bit of eyelining action. September saw the retirement of my Maybelline gel liner and Eyeko liquid eyeliner, but I’m not feeling too deprived with Bobbi Brown Black Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner! The Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush is an old friend. Paired together it’s easy to achieve that winged-out cat eye I’ve been sporting very often!

4. Candles

Diptyque Roses, Baobab Collection Zanaibar Spices

I don’t light candles all year round, but the colder months always awaken the candle lover in me. At the moment I am crazy about Diptyque Roses and Baobab Collection Zanzibar Spices. Diptyque Roses is a scent that will likely please all rose/floral lovers. It is soft, feminine, and calming. Baobab Collection Zanzibar Spices on the other hand, plays with something rich and sensual. The cinnamon and curcuma (turmeric) in there always make me hungry!

5. Richer Scent

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire

You know how with some stuff, it’s love at first sight but with some other, it takes some time? That’s my story with Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire. I wasn’t too sure what to make of it when I sniffed it on a piece of paper, but when I got a piece of cloth with the scent on, I realized things get better about it for me. You will get a full review in no time, but for the moment let me just say it’s something I gladly wear to bed (as well as when I’m awake for sure), and I almost never do that!

How about you? What are your early autumn favorites? Does the season make you grab different things in terms of makeup/skincare?

  1. Lol, I really don”t smell the cinnamon in the zanzibar candle I love it so much tho! I’m so happy that you finally got into the greatness of bolder lipcolours and lipsticks because you really wear them so well!

  2. Gah, I was supposed to get a sample of Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire from Sephora and then they said they couldn’t get a hold of them 😦

    I love the lipstick casing!!

    • Dovey it’ll be up sooner than you think, so keep your eyes peeled! I was going to sit on it for another while but it got too hard LOL

Sable has been my brow filler for a year now, and I love to mix a bit of Wheat with it for the softest and most natural contouring shade (for my skin tone at least)!

    • Hey Neemly, I really really like the lighter shade of Dune but the darker one just isn’t a 10/10 for me (it doesn’t blend easily on top of UDPP. I have solved the problem with NARS Smudgeproof by now, but still I wish it’d be as soft as its neighbor). I know that the grand majority really loves it though, so maybe I’m a bit weird haha

    • Hey Eva, I never imagined I’d come this far with lipsticks, but it happened really fast! There are still days I want to do fancier eyeshadows, but the charm of a good lipstick is hard to resist!

  3. I used to be a real lipgloss kinda girl, but if I’m honest, the lipstick grew on me and I even think I have more lipsticks than lipglosses right now.
I’m curious about the Bobbi Brown palette. It looks like it has colours I’d love!

    • It’s strange, but I went from not a lip anything girl straight to a lipstick girl! Normally glosses should be easier to wear, but I kind of skipped that part! There are some that I love and wear often, but I still prefer lipsticks! You’ll see the Bobbi Brown palette VERY soon too!

  4. I like my BB gel liner too. I’ve tried MAC fluidline and other drugstore gel liners. They just don’t compare. So I stopped looking πŸ™‚ If it’s gel liner, it must be BB for me. Glad you like it too!

  5. The bobbi brown palette looks great! and omg is that a red lipstick, it looks pretty! My fave for september is Max Factor mascara combined with Maybelline mascara :D. It makes my lashes long and full

  6. I love lipstick on you, so yay! Are you loving the tom ford formula or do you like guerlain rouge g better? I got a sample of the guerlain perfume at sephora the other day but I’m not sure it is for me, though your positive impression is good! And I like candles year round hehe πŸ™‚

    • Thanks Joyce! I can’t really compare the two formulas yet, as the Tom Ford I have is very very matte and that is different from the Rouge G’s I’ve tried. I really wasn’t sure about La Petite Robe Noire until I tried it on, and bang I fell in love but no perfume is for everyone πŸ™‚

  7. That candle looks/sounds amazing.. but not if it is going to make me hungry :p hahaha .. I love candles too. I’m burning one right know: apple/cinnamon (I think). Loved this favorites post!

  8. Yay, bold lips! They’re really amazing – nothing helps me feel more put together sometimes. That Bobbi Brown Caviar palette also looks amazing! Great favorites, Sunny! I need some new candles, myself.

    • Exactly, Larie! Put-together is definitely the perfect adjective here. The review for the palette will be up very very soon (in 2 parts because I managed to make it VERY lengthy)!

  9. I always read everything you write, Sunny dear, even if I don’t comment. Secondly, great minds think alike!!!! I’ve been pairing my new TF lipstick with soft BB eyes and loving the effect!! I am intrigued by the candles you me tion– I’m always looking for nice candles thank you!

    • Aww thanks Christine! I really like Flamingo on you (my TF wish list is growing REALLY long)! Definitely check these two out. I’m sure I’ll get more as the weather gets colder πŸ™‚
