Inspired by Runway: Elie Saab Spring/Summer 2013 Ready-to-Wear Look (Great for Monolids)

For Elie Saab’s spring/summer ready-to-wear show, Tom Pecheux (the genius who has been doing a brilliant job rebranding Estee Lauder) created a look with strong eyeliner as the focal point. When I saw the MAC Benelux senior artist, Elke Willeman (you might remember seeing her here and here) doing the look back stage, I knew I had to try it at home. If anything could have made the idea even more appealing, this look is great for those with monolids!

Before I show you the product breakdown and more pictures of my attempt, let’s see how the real pro does it, shall we?

Hey everybody,

How are you today? We’re already over the hump, and ONE MORE working day later it’s the weekend! I hope you guys have a bit more luck with the weather where you are. We’re having a HORRID spring in Belgium. Not only is the temperature anything but warm, we haven’t even seen too much sun either. This makes me a bit saggy… But anyways, today I am here to share my thoughts on the much raved-about L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows in Purple Obsession (Perpetual Purple in the US) and Emerald Lame!

Want Something That Is Applied in 30 Seconds and Lasts for 24 Hours? Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo Eyeshadows in Bold Gold & Bad to the Bronze Swatch, Review, FOTD & My New Follow Chairman Meow Mug!

Hey everyone,

Happy Sunday! How’s your weekend so far? I have been very much stuck in front of my computer trying to catch up with work, so blogging is like taking a break. Just don’t tell my editor about it!

Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo Eyeshadows with you. These are unfortunately not yet available in Belgium. I was lucky enough to acquire them through a drugstore swap with Jessica from Getting Cheeky. If you haven’t checked out her blog, it’s high time that you did! She is a real lady with beauty radiating from inside, and an insanely talented blogger! I picked the two colors of the line that I am the most likely to use.

The packaging is sturdy and practical. Nothing fancy, but they actually come in glass pots which make them weigh a bit more and feel more expensive. Each pot contains a generous amount of 4 grams too. I’ve been using them for several times now, and I have barely made a tiny scratch in the middle of the surface.

Bold Gold is a shimmery medium gold that also contains slightly bigger sparkle. The finish is almost metallic! The pigmentation of this one is great, but perhaps a tad less saturated than Bad to the Bronze. A tiny bit of building up will suffice though. The texture is slightly rougher than Bad to the Bronze too. It’s not uncomfortable, but I wish it could be just a tiny bit smoother. However, like all gold shadows, this one gives my eyes an incredible twinkle that the 8/10 in opacity and texture can easily be forgiven!

Bad to the Bronze is a bronze with a healthy dose of shimmer and sheen. For my pretty warm undertone, this shade could almost look like a taupe! With that said, I think this is a bronze that those with a cool undertone can sport with ease. The texture and pigmentation of this one is excellent. You really only need a tiny bit for it to show on your lids!

What I find incredible about these cream shadows is that they are very easily to apply. I use my pinky, and in 30 seconds both of my eyes are done. Also, I tested out wear with no primer to begin with, and I never had to take the test further. They both trooped through like real champions, with no creasing, fading, or smudging at the end of the day! I didn’t test them for 24 hours (sorry, but I really don’t fancy going to bed with makeup), but for more than 12 hours they were just fine!

Now onto more FOTDs I did with these. I used Bold Gold for the inner two thirds of my lids, and Bad to the Bronze on the outer third to contour. It was fast, easy, and it stayed put!

Bottom line: At the recommended retail price (6.99 dollars), you really can’t go wrong with these. From what I heard the grand majority of them perform really well, so if there’s a color you like you should grab a pot, especially since it will probably last you forever! Now let’s keep our fingers crossed that they will soon make their way to Belgium!

Random photo of the day:

My Follow Chairman Meow mug! My bestie found out about Chairman Meow a while ago. Being cat ladies (bestie: speak for yourself!), we were totally obsessed with it. When she found some Chairman Meow merchandise online, I knew I had to get something! At the end I chose this mug. It actually has print all over but I can’t get all of that in a picture! You can see it on the website I got it from if you’re interested!

PS: I paid for my own mug and I am not affiliated with Cafe Press in any sense. Just thought I’d share something fun with you! They actually have a whole bunch of really cute stuff. It’s SO hard to browse the site without wanting 100 new things! And no, this doesn’t say anything about my political affiliation either, so please don’t read into it!
