Comparison Swatches: Dior Vernis Incognito/OPI Tickle my France-y, Dior Vernis Plaza/ONLY YOU Pink Kiss, Dior Vernis Riviera/ONLY YOU Acid Love

Hey everybody, happy Sunday! I hope you’re enjoying some down time and restoring energy!

I promised you to show you some comparison swatches of Dior Vernis and similar shades in my stash. Well, here they are! I’m sorry that two of the three shades I pulled out for comparison are only available in Belgium. However, this is just to give you an idea. With so many spring/summer collections coming out, I’m sure you can find something close enough if you don’t want to splurge out on Dior Vernis!

The first set is OPI Tickle My France-y and Dior Vernis Incognito (257). In the following swatches you can see Tickle My France-y on my index and ring fingers; Incognito on my middle and pinky.

These two are not dupes, but they are definitely in the same vein. Tickle My France-y doesn’t have the slightly transparent quality of Incognito, and it is browner.

Next, we have Dior Vernis Plaza with ICI PARIS XL ONLY YOU Pink Kiss.

Pink Kiss is super opaque, and it is more fuchsia with a stronger blue undertone. Also, if you look VERY closely under direct sunlight, you see a teeny bit of shimmer which Plaza doesn’t have. Plaza has more pink in it compared with Pink Kiss. In the following swatch pictures, I’m wearing Pink Kiss on my index and ring fingers, Plaza on my middle and pinky.

Now let’s move on to the crazy bright Dior Vernis Riviera and ONLY YOU Acid Love.

Again, I love both. While Riviera is flashier and much more of an opaque orange, Acid Love has a jelly-ish finish, and the coral becomes very pronounced in comparison.

The only one of the Dior Vernis I have nothing to compare with is Lucky. Again, I’m sorry that I’m comparing two of the Dior shades to Belgian exclusives, but this is just so you know you can highly possibly find something similar enough if you’re either into the refined Incognito or the hot and fun Plaza and Riviera!

That’s it for today! I hope you guys have had a great weekend. I’ve got very exciting things lining up here, so remember to stay tuned!

PS: The GRAND highlight of my day so far is that Karen from Makeupandbeautyblog features my FOTD in her Weekly Roundup! Also, if you love cats, remember to check out MBB’s Rent-A-Tabby service. It’s hilarious, and who doesn’t want to spend a few days with a handsome tabby in a costume!

Swatch & Review: Dior Vernis 257 Incognito, 537 Riviera, 579 Plaza, 659 Lucky, & Top Coat. Matching Lips and Nails, Anyone?

Hey everyone!

When I swatched/reviewed the Dior Addict Extreme for you a couple of days ago, I promised to swatch/reviewed the matching Vernis. Well, here they are!

I’m going to begin with the top coat. These are my first Dior Vernis, so I would also like to review the brush. What better than a bottle of clear top coat to show you how the brush looks?

As you can see, the Dior brush is short and tapered on the sides. The pointy tip allows precise application. Either I have made a lot of progress in nail polish application recently, or these brushes are seriously amazing, because I had next to zero cuticle clean-up to do! The top coat has an excellent formula. It doesn’t pull, drag, or shrink the nail polish. It dries speedy fast, so you don’t have to stick your hands out in agony until you can move around like a normal person. It also did a great job keeping the nail polish fresh and glossy!

Now onto the nail polishes.

Incognito (257) is a pretty and understated nude pink. While the matching lipstick has the tendency to wash me out, I love how this shade looks on my fingernails. It’s so clean and classic! The formula is great. While one coat doesn’t achieve opacity, it is smooth and brush-stroke-free. With two coats it’s perfect (though not 100% opaque if this is very important for you)! It’s definitely something I would reach for when I have a wedding to attend, or when I want to be understatedly pretty!

While the lipstick form of Riviera (579) is stunning, the nail polish version is really a burst of bright (almost neon) orange/coral! It’s mostly orange, though I see a bit of coral in it too. The formula is slightly thicker, but still very easy to work with. With one coat it is almost already opaque, though I always do two for good measure.

579 Plaza is a berry pink. Again, the formula is slightly thicker but very workable, and with one coat it is already almost opaque! This is the kind of color that I never had the courage to try, because I thought it would make my skin tone look muddy. However, it is really not an issue with this one and I love it!

Last but not least, allow me to present you 659 Lucky. On me it is a coral red, though with different light/angle it could look like a hot pink! It is a very nuanced color. Despite the fact that it is not shimmery/glittery/holographic or a duo-chrome, I would say it is a very complex shade!

All of these have a creme finish, though even without a top coat they are very glossy. The dry time is satisfactory, and they last around 4 days on with minimal chip/tip wear (which is the best case scenario for me. Please bear in mind that my nails are still not in good shape at the moment, and nail polishes never stay very long on broken nails).

Bottom line: I would not say any of these colors is an absolute must-have, as you might be able to find quite similar ones on the market. However, I must say that the formula is excellent, the brush a breeze to work with, and the nuance in these seemingly straight-forward shades makes them worthy of the designer name!

Please stay tuned for some comparison swatches in my existing stash!

What do you think? Does any of the bright and cheerful colors call your name? Are you a fan of nudes such as Incognito? Would you wear matching lips and nails?

In other news, meet my new pet Mr. Owl:

Isn’t he oh-so-cute??? My bestie HM gave it to me last week, and it’s the first cocktail ring I own! I’ve never been a fan of chunky rings as they’re not the most practical, but this owl looks so adorable and tame I really don’t mind taking him to places!

Mr. Owl says goodbye:

Have a good one, guys, and we’ll see you around!

FOTD: First Day of Spring Featuring Urban Decay Naked2, MAC Added Goodness, Dior Riviera & NOTD Riviera + Hunger Games

Hey everyone!

I had a fun day in Antwerp yesterday with follow bloggers dining, walking around, and attending the Caudalie blogger event. I will give you all the information as soon as possible, but for the moment please excuse this tired girl to just show you her FOTD and NOTD!

Eyes: Naked2
Chopper on two thirds of my lids, and Snakebite to contour. I also dragged Snakebite into my imaginary crease, though the effect is a bit more dramatic than what I would normally do possibly because I was using the brush that came with the palette.
I lined both my upper and lower lash lines with MAC Added Goodness, smudged out with Busted.

Cheeks and rest of the face:
Cargo Rome, Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess

Lips:
Dior Addict Extreme 639 Riviera (just so you know, I wore one layer of this in the pictures so the color is sheer)

Here are some more photos so you can get a better look:

I wore Dior Vernis Riviera 537 on my nails, so I took a photo in which you can see my matching lips and nails:

I have some Dior Vernis and Dior Addict Extremes for review. I will try my best to get the posts ready ASAP, so keep your eyes peeled!

Something else that matches my nails is my current read, Mockingjay, the last book of the Hunger Games trilogy:

The movie came out in Belgium yesterday, and from what I heard it’s a must-see that doesn’t stray far from the book (I think I would enjoy that). I am super busy this week though, so I probably won’t get to see it till Sunday!

What do you think? Are you digging Riviera (I’ll show you how it looks when it is layered a little in the swatch/review post. It could get very bright!)? Have you read The Hunger Games? Are you getting excited about the movie like I am?
