During my trip home a couple of months ago, I got another perm. I’ve been having curly hair for two years in a row. I love the easy volume and style a perm brings to the table, but at the same time my hair is inevitably damaged because of it. A while ago I started trying out the new Redken Smooth Lock Butter Silk, and I’m going to review that with a couple of other hair products I’ve been using for you!

Mostly Sunny Summer Favorites: Heat/Humidity-Resistant Makeup
I’ve never managed to do any monthly favorites features. It seems that the timing is never right! Nevertheless, I grasped the opportunity to test out some of my favorite products in Taipei, and before summer is over I proudly present Mostly Sunny Summer Favorites: Heat/Humidity-Resistant Makeup!

Could Dark Spots Become History with Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution?
There are not many things I regret in life, but not using proper sun protection for some years is one of them. I am blessed with skin that tans fast and doesn’t burn, but still. I have some pigmentation spots around my cheekbones as the result.
Besides using sunscreens with a decent SPF factor (I try to aim around 30), I have decided to make brightening serums an integral part of my skincare routine. The first one I sampled? Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution.
Hair Talk: the Last Stretch. What Has Worked for My Hair this Year
Four years ago when I was about to move to Belgium, I predicted my hairdresser would be one of the people I miss the most. Just to make things clear, I think this goes past the typical tricky Asian hair problem. It is more about the fact that he has never disappointed me during the 6 years and a half years I’ve known him. I am a minimalist when it comes to hair. I want a good cut that I can easily blow dry to make it look presentable. I use next to no styling products (I do need a curling mousse now after the perm), and after I successfully reduced the frequency of shampooing in the beginning of the year, it seems like I’m on the right track.
Even though at this moment there’s nothing else I want to do besides going straight to my hairdresser’s from the airport next Wednesday (it’s not a joke. The appointment has been booked!), I am here to share some products that have helped me through the year!
