Nothing Is More Playful Than a Coral Lipstick: Chanel Enjouée Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Color

You know how sometimes something becomes a staple before you even get to blog about it? Yeah that. That’s what happened to the poor Chanel Enjouée Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Color. All of a sudden I remembered I have not properly acknowledged my obsession with this beauty that has become an integral part of my routine. How did that even happen???

Never mind, better late than never. Today I’m showing you one of the 16 Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colors of the new generation, the pink coral Enjouée (playful in French, which in my opinion is a perfect name)!

According to Chanel, Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Color has a formula with concentrated, ultra-thin pigments that offers radically intense color with full coverage and a satin finish. It is also supposed to keep lips soft and moisturized.

The packaging of Rouge Allures is interesting. The black tube has a golden top. Once you press the golden top, it bounces up and then you can take the lipstick out. When you are done, simply press it back! I get quite a kick out of the fun mechanism, and I have to consciously stop myself from fidgeting with it! It has a light scent if I smell the bullet, but otherwise I don’t notice it at all on my lips.

Enjouée is a pink coral with tiny little shimmer and a creamy sheen. The amazing thing about the formula is, true to Chanel’s promises, the texture is ultra thin. It glides on easily enough (it doesn’t drag at all, but it doesn’t literally melt on your lips like some really creamy ones do. This also means it’s more difficult to make a dent in it), the color is semi-opaque in one pass, though you can definitely build it up (I go over the edge twice because that’s where I could use a pinch more color). It is incredibly lightweight, smooth, and comfortable to wear. It plumps my lips up and masks lines to give me juicy, defined lips!

Lasting power-wise it’s pleasantly surprising as well. I was estimating 3 hours with such a lightweight formula, but it’s actually more like 4 and a half! It stands up to drinks, but a meal will finish it off. I have no problem with uneven fading, bleeding, or feather with this one, and my lips stay moisturized throughout.

Here is the swatch (top: built up, bottom: one pass):

If this reminds you of another pink coral I have recently talked about (Guerlain Gracy Rouge G), here is a comparison:

As you can see, Enjouée is way more coral and less pink in comparison!

I know that coral is often associated with spring and summer, but for me it’s one of the most easygoing and versatile lip shades. Enjouée is not at all in-your-face (at least not for/on me), so you can pair it with many different things. Here I’m sporting a bit of a darker smokey eye, but I don’t have the impression that it’s stealing the thunder. I also wear this when I’m bare-faced (with my brows filled in because that’s the minimum), and it doesn’t seem out-of-place!

Bottom line: Enjouée is a great lipstick for my everyday arsenal. The color is versatile, the formula just right, and it’s something both lipstick beginners and seasoned veterans will appreciate. It’s hard to tell how a line of products will perform based on one example, but I definitely can’t wait to look at some of the reds (yup I’m getting into red lipsticks)!

Have you taken a look at the Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colors? Are you eyeing any specific shade(s)? What is your favorite Chanel lip product/line of products?

  1. My cousin has got a chanel lipstick and I adore the mechaism haha, it’s funny to play with :’D. I love the color ^^, I have promised my little sister when see graduate I will get her a red chanel lipstick haha. -she is 15-
You should go for reds, I love red! 🙂 Even though I only got three red lipsticks, but I love it ^^. Nearly always when I wear it, someone will come to me to say that it looks good with my skintone and haircolor haha

  2. I’m forever looking for more pink-leaning corals – I’ve had my eye on Mac Crosswires for a bit. I don’t think these will be available at our local Chanel counter, but I’m going to go see anyway. Yours and so many other blogs are tempting me to venture into more high-end lipsticks!

  3. Whoa, that looks super bright in the tube, but very wearable on you and in the swatches. Coral is a lovely shade, but you know, I don’t have a lot of it – I actually find it difficult to wear sometimes, haha! You look very cheerful and fresh, Sunny!

    • Hey Larie, that’s one layer and it can actually be built up as well. You should try this on! I find that some coral lipsticks only look good with a pinch of blush, not when I am otherwise bare-faced 🙂

  4. This is gorgeous! I love a coral. I have to say I’m in love with the Rouge Allure. So many new gorgeous shades! I prefer the formula to the Rouge Allure which I find very drying. This color looks lovely on you, and that top is gorgeous 🙂

  5. Chanel lipsticks are great. Of all the brands I’ve tried, I think Chanel tastes/smells the best. If you’re thinking of trying a red, give “Gabrielle” a shot, it’s a true gorgeous red. Gabrielle and Russian Red (MAC) are my go to reds!
